What is Key Club?
Key Club is a student-run organization that is found in high schools all around the globe. Starting in 1925, it is one of the oldest service programs for high school students that exists with over 250,000 members in 30 countries. Clubs are sponsored by local Kiwanis clubs (our sponsor is Del Mar Kiwanis) whose goals are to encourage youths to reach out and help their community.
Key Club provides students with opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership. It strives to teach the four core values of leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness, and build leaders through service for homes, schools, and communities. Key Club Pledge: I pledge, on my honor, To uphold the objects of Key Club International, To build my home, school, and community, To serve my nation and world, And to combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions. |

Each year, Key Club International works with its three partner organization March of Dimes, Children's Miracle Network, and UNICEF for fundraising for the Major Emphasis, which is a project that unites key clubs into working together to meet a certain goal.
Currently, the Major Emphasis is The Eliminate Project where Key Club, Kiwanis International, and UNICEF are working together to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus in underdeveloped countries.
Neonatal tetanus kills one baby every nine minutes, and so the joint goal between these organizations is to raise $110 million dollars to aid neglected mothers and help them develop healthy families.

via their website: "The March of Dimes works to end premature birth and other problems that threaten our babies. [They] help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. If something goes wrong, [they] offer information and comfort to families. [They also] research the reasons why babies are born too soon or very sick and work on preventions." |
