Happy Mail for the Arc's Clients
What: The Arc of San Diego serves over 2,000 adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in our community. Due to the impacts of COVID-19, many of The Arc's clients are still unable to attend adult day programs and other in-person services. Volunteers can sign up to create arts and crafts, activity packages, games, or or even organize a drive for much needed items for their clients in group-homes. This is a great way to connect to their organization and participants!

Volunteer tasks depend on your level of experience, abilities, and the needs of the farm that week. Tasks might include: mucking animal pens, weeding, bed building, planting, developing areas for their classes and field trips, mulching, putting up structures, composting, and more! The farm is a great place for people of all ages and abilities. You'll get to work with Wild Willow Farm farmers, team leaders, and interns. WWF is an educational farm, so there's no experience required, and they'll teach you everything you need to know to be involved. Don't hesitate to ask them any questions.

Lucky Duck Meals for the Unsheltered Homeless Program
What:There are 4,000+ unsheltered homeless individuals on the streets with scarce access to food and water. This initiative provides food and water to outreach workers who distribute it to unsheltered individuals to provide nourishment and water and to ultimately help end their homelessness.
Help sort and load boxes into a “pick-up ready” configuration and then load meals into service providers' vehicles. You can be helpful by taking the direction of a team member and stacking and moving boxes carefully and efficiently. Expect some physical labor. Volunteers typically spend their time moving boxes that weigh about 20 lbs at distances of 5-20 feet (between the pallets and the vehicles).

Organize Thrift Store Donations
What: Auntie Helen's serves individuals with low incomes or with underlying health conditions such as HIV/AIDS. They are self-supportive through their thrift store and private donations which fund programs such as delivering groceries to families and helping individuals through addiction recovery. Currently they are hosting sales on their sidewalk space and not allowing customers inside for their safety and the safety of staff/volunteers. Volunteers are needed at their thrift store to sort, fold and hang donations, disbursing them between various designated areas. Your help will allow them to run the thrift store's in-person and online shopping more efficiently. Once a week Auntie Helen's distributes groceries to 300+ families, volunteers may be asked to help with bagging and distributing food as well.

SD Loyal Carlsbad Beach Clean Up
The San Diego Loyal Soccer Club (SD Loyal) has partnered with the Rob Machado Foundation to influence those around us to help keep our neighboring communities clean and recognize the importance of sustainability. Five Can Challenge
What: Because of things like online shopping and home delivery, solid waste production has increased during the pandemic. And yet, recycling rates have decreased. Recycling cuts down on the amount of waste that ends up in landfills, and making a can from recycled aluminum saves more than 90% of the energy required to make a new can. What: With more than 50 Donation Centers in San Diego County, Goodwill makes it easier than ever to donate your quality items and offer many ways for you to donate to us. Create COVID-19 Cloth Face Coverings!
What?: The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (such as grocery stores and pharmacies). However, many are unable to access face coverings due to limited resources. Making and donating face coverings for yourself and others may help ease the spread of disease. You will need your own materials such as cloth and elastic string to make the masks.

Nature Play - Mud Playday (SET UP)
What?
Children will explore reptiles and other parts of nature through a magnifying glass. Create a fort, walking stick, or binder feeder. They will learn about animal tracks, and cooking s'mores in a solar over. Children will also get a chance to play in the mud, build forts and go through our obstacle course. We are starting a long term service project: making care packages for the homeless in San Diego! We need your guys's help in bringing in donations to put in these care packages.
Hours:

S4EA Basketball Tournament
SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes (S4EA) is a community based sports program serving athletes with developmental disabilities ages 5 through adult. They are looking for volunteers to assist at the Basketball Tournament at the Francis Parker School and other nearby gyms.
During competition volunteers will serve as scorekeepers and/or timers or help as team aides. Qualified volunteers are also needed to referee. Lunch is provided. Volunteers are also needed for setting up and taking down all the equipment before & after the tournament. Volunteers may be assigned to one of the offsite venues. They expect to have play on 7-8 courts, with 2 at Parker, 2 at University of San Diego Sports Center, 1-2 at Linda Vista Rec Center and 2 at Kearny Mesa Rec Center. Everyone initially checks in at Parker. Ideally, they would like volunteers to help the full day, however, recognize that doesn't work for everyone, so would request a 4 hour minimum commitment, 9am-1pm and 1-5pm. You must be at least 15 years old to volunteer.

Storm Drain Stenciling Day
Did you know that storm drains are not connected to the sewer system? Join us by stenciling a pollution prevention message above storm drains around the neighborhood. By doing so, you are educating the public that no pollutants or trash should go down the drains and into the ocean! This event will feature sidewalk art from local artists at select storm drains throughout Liberty Station!
All volunteers will need a signed waiver from ILACSD, which is available in the link below. Participants under the age of 18 need parent or guardian signatures on their waivers. Any participants under the age of 14 may need adult supervision for stenciling.

2019 San Diego Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition
The San Diego Chapter MATHCOUNTS Competition is part of a national event for middle school students www.mathcounts.org. The students compete individually and in teams during three written tests in the morning and the top students compete head-to-head in the afternoon after a lunch break. They are looking for proctors to administer the written tests and graders to grade them. No special knowledge of math is necessary. Training for proctors is at 8:30 am and training for graders will take place at 9:30 am. Proctors finish their duties a 12 noon with the graders finishing by 2 pm. Volunteers will be sent an information sheet with all the details regarding participation.

This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about river ecology and witness a physical transformation of the landscape, which translates into improving our environment and the health of our River!
Training will be provided. Be sure to dress in clothes that can get a little dirty and wear closed shoes, no sandals or flip-flops allowed for safety reasons. Community service hours can be provided for this event.

2019 San Diego Resolution Run
Even if you’re not running, you can still be a part of the 2019 Resolution Run 5K/15K/HALF by volunteering! And this event can’t happen without the army of volunteers that help us. December Nights
Balboa Park December Nights, the nation’s premier holiday festival, will take place for the 41st consecutive year on Friday, December 7th from 3-11pm and Saturday, December 8th from noon-11pm. Friends, families and the community are invited to come together for festive fun, food and attractions throughout the park, including complimentary admission to Balboa Park museums from 5-9 pm. The largest free community festival in San Diego, December Nights is expected to attract more than 350,000 visitors to the park over two days to revel and enjoy the season.

Breakfast with Santa
San Dieguito is holding our annual Breakfast with Santa event, where families come out and enjoy a fun filled occasion. Trick of Treat for UNICEF
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF began 68 years ago as a way to help kids still affected by World War II. Since then, millions of children across the United States have gone door to door on Halloween with UNICEF collection boxes, calling out, ""Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF!" The annual tradition of Kids Helping Kids® — involving donations big and small — has helped to raise nearly $177 million since 1950. Join Key Clubbers all across California on our annual trip to Six Flags!
At Fall Rally, we are not there just to have fun. We are not there just to gather all together and have spirit battles against one another. We are not there to just sell our merchandise and buy merchandise from other divisions. It's all of these and more. Specifically, we are there to celebrate raising money for the Pediatric Trauma Program.

Solana Beach 5k Run
The 5th Annual Solana Beach 5k Sunset Run/Walk Event is going to be great day full of fun, sand, food, and a beautiful sunset. They are a nonprofit dedicated to health access for all and this event allows us to raise funds for our Community Wellness programs. These include free immunizations to uninsured, pre-diabetic prevention classes, health presentations in the community, and more!! Most of all they provide pro bono surgical procedures to San Diegan residents living 250% below the poverty level.

Empty Cradle Walk to Remember
Empty Cradle is a peer support group for parents who have experienced the loss of their baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth, TFMR, infant death, SIDS or SUID. UTC Ice Skating Fundraiser
We are so excited to announce our first bonding event of the year: ice skating at UTC Ice! Help Restore Nesting Habitat for an Endangered Species!
Come help manage invasive plants in Mission Bay to protect endangered birds They will be working to remove invasive plants from North Fiesta Island. We’re doing this to promote nesting by the California Least Tern (an endangered species) and to create space for native coastal dune plants. Waivers are required for those under 18. The meeting location will be on the northern edge of Fiesta Island in Mission Bay.

Sunshine Ranch Annual Fall Festival
Sunshine Ranch is holding its annual Fall Festival and Fundraiser. Volunteers will be running different games. The coordinator have written a description for each game and they are all easy, fun and play until you win. They will also need a few volunteers that can run the prize table, maybe watch over the craft table and a couple floaters so all volunteers can have breaks. Volunteers will be provided snack, waters, breaks, and a free lunch.
The event is from 2:00 - 6:00 pm but they need help during set up which is 12:00 am - 2:00 pm and cleanup at 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.
It is important that they have volunteers during the actual event because the main part is the carnival.

Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life Event
The Cystic Fibrosis Cycle for Life is an all day event that raises money for cystic fibrosis, a genetic life threatening disease that afflicts about 30,000 people in the United States. The event involves involves participants biking through San Diego on 35 and 65 mile routes. The race will begin at the Farmer & The Seahorse on October 27th and volunteers are needed to help run the event.
Currently, they are looking for assistance for the following shifts:
- Set Up (5:30-7:30AM): Help Cystic Fibrosis Foundation staff with setting up tents, tables, banners and registrations areas
- Set Up (6:00-8:30AM): Help Cystic Fibrosis Foundation staff with setting up tents, tables, banners and registrations areas
- Registration (5:30-8:00AM): Help Cystic Fibrosis Foundation staff register participants
- Operation Support (11:00 AM-2:00PM): Oversee various booths such as the food and water station.

Help Restore Crest Canyon in Del Mar!
Join San Diego Canyonlands for a trail maintenance and invasive plant removal event in Crest Canyon Open Space Park. Come and enjoy the beautiful vistas and inviting shade of old-growth Torrey pines while we remove invasive ice plant. Community service hours documentation provided to those who need it. Vista Community Cleanup
Join ILACSD and the County of San Diego for a litter cleanup in Vista! We will collect trash and recycling along the Carlsbad Watershed to divert waste from traveling through the watershed to our coast.
We will have cleanup supplies and water. We also provide community service hours and Letters of Appreciation for volunteers. This is a great opportunity for students and families to learn ways to protect our local environment!
We encourage volunteers to bring your own reusable items such as water bottles, work gloves, and buckets to promote zero-waste practices and help us in our mission to have a zero waste, litter free and environmentally engaged San Diego region!

Point Loma Native Plant Garden Work Party
The Point Loma Native Plant Garden is home to a beautiful collection of plants and trees native to San Diego and Southern California cared for by an all volunteer friends group. The site has a trail system, native plant nursery and more. The Friends of the garden seek people with an interest in helping to care for and maintain this wonderful garden. No experience necessary, all are welcome. The events involve light gardening and maintenance, watering and meeting new people. All tools and supplies provided.

Surf Dog Surf - A - Thon
Our Annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon is coming up and we are in need of some EARLY morning help with helping our Vendors set up their booths and general set up for the event itself. It is a really fun event held at Del Mar Dog Beach on Sunday September 9th!!

Every year, millions of tons of debris wash into our global oceans, unrelated to natural disasters Join I Love a Clean San Diego at over 100 sites throughout San Diego County for our 34th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day! Help Restore Hollywood Canyon in City Heights!
Join Hollywood Canyon neighbors, community volunteers and San Diego Canyonlands for this 4th Saturday routine stewardship event in the canyon as part of our restoration efforts. Help us to create a healthy habitat for wildlife and a safe place for recreation in the City Heights community of San Diego. All ages welcome! Bunnyfest Fundraiser
Bunnyfest is the San Diego House Rabbit Society's annual fundraiser. This festival is a fun BYOB (bring your own bunny) event featuring an open-air fair with arts and crafts vendors, vetinary information booths, bunny grooming, services, games, a silent auction, and a variety of gifts, apparel and activities for the bunny lover in all of us. Volunteers will be assisting with registration, check in, and facilitating the fundraiser.

September DCM: Spirit Sessions
In preparation for the spirit rally at RTC, our September DCM will be all about spirit. Our amazing Spirit Coordinators Haley Tran and Destiny Do Thanh will be leading all of us in learning our division cheers and preparing us to WIN the spirit stick at RTC! This event will be unlike any other spirit prep DCM that Division 37 South has had in the past.
If you plan to attend RTC, attending the September DCM is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Take just a few hours out of your day to meet and/or bond with your fellow D37S Key Clubbers before the big event and become an expert in our cheers just in time to help us take home first place!

Region Training Conference is a chance to meet Key Clubbers from all over Regions 1 and 2, catch up with old friends, and most importantly, learn how to be a more effective leader and/or member. This event will feature a variety of star, galaxy, and zodiac themed informative workshops, icebreakers, and a killer spirit rally! By the end of RTC, you will leave with a stronger understanding of serving your community and those around you, and overall more about Key Club.
Come to one of the HOTTEST events in Region 1 & 2 and learn to shoot for the stars by reaching your full potential! This is a great event if you want to become more involved in Key Club and learn about how to be in a club leadership position. Don't miss out on this amazing experience for fun, bonding, education, and spirit with your fellow Region 1.5 Key Clubbers.

Liberty Station Art Walk

Tree San Diego Watering
Tree San Diego needs your help to water 500 street trees planted in Chula Vista and Logan Heights. Each Saturday, teams of volunteers fill buckets with water from a truck and then carry the buckets to pour on trees during two-hour shifts. Volunteers also help keep the tree basins weed-free. Please wear closed toed shoes. Bring water, hat and sunscreen if desired. Safety vests and gloves are provided.

Twainfest
TwainFest is a FREE celebration of Mark Twain and other writers of the 19th century. TwainFest takes places on Saturday, August 18 in Old Town State Historic Park. Volunteer as a Venue Manager (all day commitment from 10:30AM-5:30PM with a lunch break) and oversee the performers at different venues, ensuring performances stay on time and venues have needed supplies. Volunteer as a Venue Assistant Manager and encourage park guests to attend performances. Volunteer as a Literary Arcade Facilitator where children and adults of all ages can play games such as Fishing for Words, Chortle This, and the Wheel of Fiction. Volunteer as a Costumed Program Distributor and pass out TwainFest programs to guests throughout the park, all while in "character" and wearing a period-appropriate costume! Volunteers are needed from 10:30AM-2:30PM OR 2:00PM-5:30PM and must attend one orientation. Must be 14 years old.

At the heart of the Be The Change 5K are our amazing volunteers. We are in need of people just like you to make our 5K event a success! Be a part of the action! Make new friends and have fun while helping out several local charities! We need amazing volunteers to assist with all the pre race registration/bib pick up and race day logistics, such as festival area set-up & break-down, stuffing goody bags, course water stations, registration, course marshals keeping runners safe and on the course, pre-race check in, cheering the runners on, helping with the finish line and post race breakdown. Clean and Green River Cleanup
Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our River. Without our amazing volunteers, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats, create unsightly piles in our parks and public spaces, leach contaminants into the water, and could be washed out in to our ocean and beaches!

Join your Gonzales Canyon neighbors, Open Space Park Rangers and San Diego Canyonlands in a cleanup of the Sword Way trail area. During the monthly events, we work to remove trash, dumping, invasive non-native plants, plant/water native plants in restoration sites, maintain trails, and do other exciting work to enhance the canyon.

Moonlight Beach Cleanup(16+)
Join fellow volunteers in the fun filled atmosphere of cleaning the beach! Volunteers will help Surfrider Foundation preserve one of San Diego's greatest treasures - its coastline. This is a great way to walk around in the outdoors and have fun while doing community service! Please wear comfortable clothes, closed toed shoes and sunscreen. Bags and gloves will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own reusable supplies if you have them. On the day of the event, meet next to the restrooms.

The Treasure Run is a 5k/10k run on the hard packed sand of Mission Beach Afterwards there will be a chance to dig for buried treasure! They'll be giving out Treasure Run T-shirts, Swag and a finisher's medal for each participant. Treasure Run
Help Restore Maple Canyon in Bankers Hill
Join the Friends of Maple Canyon at our fourth Saturday stewardship event! We will be watering the native plants, as well as other stewardship activities as needed. There are no bathrooms on site. April DCM & 3rd annual Sandwichin' for Service
We go together like peanut butter and jelly! Division 37 East, South, and West are coming together to hold the 3rd annual Sandwichin' for Service event for the FIRST DCM of the 2018-2019 term. We will be making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to donate to the San Diego Food Bank. I highly encourage newly elected officers to join so that you can get a better understanding of what a Division Council Meeting (DCM) is like and to start your term strong. Bring all of your friends to kick off the year with games, sandwich making, and fun!
You can also donate bread, peanut butter, or jelly in return for service hours!
One item donated is essentially equal to 1 hour of service and the limit is 4 items (4 hours) per person.

Ocean Air Spring Carnival
Please join Ocean Air Elementary School at their annual Spring Carnival fundraiser! Proceeds from the carnival will help support programs like Imagination Machine, Red Ribbon Week, Science clubs, Study Buddy, and Running Club. Volunteers will be helping set up, manage games and booths, sign people in, and clean up. Come help put a smile on a child's face!

Anti-Defamation League Walk Against Hate
The Walk Against Hate & Diversity Expo began in 2010 at ADL Philadelphia, and has grown to include Las Vegas, and now San Diego, as a way to bring the community together to promote diversity. Hundreds of students, parents, business leaders and community members will walk with one another to celebrate the values of respect.
ADL is looking for volunteers for our 1st annual Walk Against Hate in Liberty Station, Point Loma. Volunteering is separated into three shifts, but we welcome anyone to volunteer for as many shifts as they'd like.
All volunteers will be contacted by Friday April 6, 2018 with their assignments.
Please also plan to attend a volunteer orientation on Sunday, April 8 at 5 PM in Ingram Plaza, Liberty Station or a call-in orientation on Monday, April 9 at Noon.
